Lufthansa to expand Airbus A380 route network

Lufthansa will expand the route network of the largest passenger jet in the world Airbus A380 in autumn with a special premiere.

Firstly from October 5 the German airline will deploy A380 on the route Munich – Los Angeles.

Then for the first time, Lufthansa Airbus A380 will take off from Munich to the Thai capital Bangkok on October 28. According to the airline, this will increase the seat capacity on the route by almost 75 percent.

Before Covid-19 Lufthansa flew 14 Airbus A380. As traffic decreased dramatically the airline stored all A380 fleet.

Now for the full year 2023, the Lufthansa Group expects an average passenger airline capacity of around 85 to 90 percent compared to 2019.

As the aviation industry started to recover, Lufthansa decided to reactivate four A380 by the end of 2023. The first airplane has already gone through maintenance and is ready to carry passengers.

Now Lufthansa is flying A380 on short European routes due to the purpose of crew training.

The German airline will start scheduled long-haul flights on A380 in the summer with two routes: Munich – Boston from June 1 and Munich –
New York from July 4.
