Korean Air, the largest airline in Korea, introduces the Wi-Fi internet in planes for the first time.
The passengers can use the service starting from June 1 on international routes operated by Boeing 737-8. Subsequently, Korean Air will expand the service to all international routes.
Korean airline offers two plans for Wi-Fi internet in the planes. The plan “Internet” allows web surfing, listening to music, and watching videos. The plan “Messaging” allows only sending text messages through chat apps such as WhatsApp.
Korean Air unveiled the pricing policy for internet access in planes. It depends on the type of plan and the duration of the flight.
The plan “Internet” for the whole flight costs $11.95 on short-haul routes, $13.95 on medium-haul routes ans 20.95 on long-haul routes.
The plan “Messaging” for the whole flight costs $4.95 on short-haul and medium-haul routes and $5.95 on long-haul routes.
To celebrate the launch, Korean Air will provide free messaging service to all passengers from June to August.
