The newly established Blue Air Moravia, which is to provide flights from Brno to five European metropolises, will fly later than originally planned in the South Moravian region .
A month and a half after the Jihomoravský Region announced plans for a new carrier and lines from Brno, it is clear that the start at the end of March is much less likely. Still in the middle of the day, the Blue Air Moravia web site reported that ticket sales would begin in February. But before midnight, another message appeared, which showed the delay of the start.
The company, which has a South Moravian development and Blue Air subsidiary, said in a statement on its website that the due diligence and negotiations with the carrier are still ongoing. " This takes a little longer than we originally planned, but given the scale of the project and its international overlap, it is not unusual. The Blue Air Moravia project is of a long-term nature, involving the public sector, so we can not afford anything to hurry or overlook, especially in legal matters, " it said on the Web.
Even if the lines were removed at the beginning of the summer flight schedule, the carrier would soon catch up with the late ticket sales. A number of passengers prefer to buy tickets earlier.
The region has decided to set up a new Blue Air Moravia Transportation company , which will have a 35% stake in Wizz Air after leaving Wizz Air. Part of the company will be Brno, the main word will be Blue Air. " It is a historical opportunity for the region, which will help the further growth of the entire region," said Bohumil Šimek, the governor. For the first year, the region wanted to pay 60 million crowns for years.
The plan foresees that new lines will have to transport 130,000 people a year. The South Moravian Development Company conducted a market survey and sought out the cost side and willingness of the hauliers to enter the joint venture and invest in it. Of the three addressed carriers, the complete offer was made by the low-cost Blue Air company.
Blue Air plans to fly from Bohemia with Boeing 737-500 with a capacity of 126 seats. Frequency of flights is set at three times a week for Milan and Brussels, with two frequencies a week scheduled for other destinations.
The problems with the start of the new lines were confirmed in an interview for the daily Zdopravy.cz and the regional deputy for transport Roman Hanák. "At the end of the year, negotiations with Blue Airem were bound. It was motivated by the fact that they were buying about 17 new boeing and the whole company was engaged in this acquisition, " Hanak said. According to him, the county has money for start-ups prepared in the budget. " We did not have the European Commission's opinion on it, where we agreed that the procedure was right," Hanak added.
However, not only orders for new boeing can be delayed. Romanian courts decided at the beginning of the year that Blue Air could once again be dominated by Romanian investor Nelu Iordache. The one about the airlines came from the Romania Insider in 2013 due to the financial difficulties of other companies in his possession.
